Girona's ideal geographical position between the mountains and the sea makes it possible to practise numerous sporting activities in truly idyllic locations. The surrounding province has 23 golf or pitch & putt courses, and facilities for diving, horse-riding, mountain-bike trails and adventure sports.

As far as night-life is concerned, the city has bars and clubs of different types, pubs, a jazz cellar, discotheques and dancehalls, as well as cinemas, a theatre and of course the three concert halls of the Auditorium with their regular programme of musical events.

Girona is a cultured and cosmopolitan city, and a whole series of events are held here throughout the year, such as the Girona Festival of Flowers, the International Festival of Theatre of Catalonia, Gastronomy Week, the Festival of World Religious Music, the Girona Cinema Festival, the Video and Digital Arts Festival, the Holy Week celebrations and the city's annual Festival of Sant Narcís, to name but a few.
